Chicken infected with salmonella was sold in the "KFC" chain of stores in Albania.
This bacterium causes food contamination, while people affected by salmonella have several symptoms including vomiting, headache, chills, blood in the stool and intestinal infection.
The alarm about chicken meat with salmonella in the "KFC" network was issued by the "RASFF" portal of the European Union, which exchanges information in real time as soon as it detects a risk in the food chain.
The announcement was made on 8.7.2024, noting that "KFC" marinated chicken with the presence of salmonella constitutes a risk with a serious impact on human health.
"Ora News" television turned to the National Food Authority (AKU) with a request for information where the questions were posed:
How much of this product was imported to our country?
What is the amount that was withdrawn from the market?
This institution informs us that: "1535.04 kg of chicken meat were imported and only 177.12 kg were blocked by AKU inspectors".
Until the moment that the blockade was made in "KFC" stores, 1357 kg of chicken meat with salmonella bacteria was sold.
Although on the official website "KFC" states that it shows great care in the selection of chickens and the supply chain, it is not known what happened that the stores sold to customers chicken meat with the salmonella bacteria, which has been classified as a serious risk by the EU. in human health.
Based on the situation, "Ora News" television has also requested a position from the "KFC" network in Albania.
The representative of this network informs us that after receiving the information, they made inspections in the warehouses and destroyed the chicken meat with the presence of salmonella.
Although the amount of chicken meat with salmonella sold was 1357 kg, the representative of "KFC" in Albania did not bear any responsibility for the marketing of a product that endangered the lives of consumers./oranews
