The easiest Albanian citizenship for foreigners

New changes are proposed, children born in Albania are immediately provided with nationality. The Ministry of the Interior has drafted some changes in the law on citizenship, which allows foreigners to acquire Albanian citizenship.

One of the proposals that have been sent for public consultation is about newborn children. This can only be achieved in the case when the two foreign parents give their consent for the child to acquire Albanian citizenship.

This practice is added again, as it was also provided for in the law on Albanian citizenship of 1998, which was later repealed.

Another change is the removal of the limiting criterion of 18 years of age for the benefit of Albanian citizenship. This will be possible when the young person does not pose a threat to the public order and national security of the country, but also in cases where the Republic of Albania has a national interest or an interest in the field of education, science, art, culture, economy and sports. Citizenship of persons who have not reached the age of 18 can be acquired only with the consent of both parents or legal guardian.

According to the explanatory report of the draft law, these legal changes are intended for Albania to absorb as many talents as possible from different fields who have not reached the age of 18. One of the main proponents of legal changes is the Albanian Football Federation. The AFL is of the opinion that the establishment of the criterion "to have reached the age of 18" brings a great limitation in the direction of research, the discovery of new talents (not with Albanian citizenship) for their contribution to the Albanian national teams .

The adoption of this draft law is not associated with additional financial effects for the state budget, on the contrary, there will be positive financial effects from the revenues that will be collected from the fee applied for citizenship.

The draft law on citizenship is expected to take time as it will be discussed by the deputies in the parliamentary committees until its full finalization in the plenary session./ Klan
