White House: There is no evidence that Russia is preparing to use nuclear

The United States has no indication that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin's "threatening rhetoric" about the use of these weapons.

This is what the spokeswoman of the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, said today.

Putin has escalated the war that began in Ukraine in February, announcing last month a "partial" military mobilization.

The Russian president, whose country is a nuclear power, has repeated on several occasions that he will use any means at his disposal to protect, as he has said, his territory.

"We take nuclear weapons or threatening rhetoric about their use seriously, but I mean ... we have seen no reason to adjust our strategic nuclear posture, and we have no indication that Russia is preparing to immediately use nuclear weapons," he said. Jean-Pierre to reporters.

On September 30, Putin hinted that he would use nuclear weapons to defend Ukrainian territories he claimed to have annexed.

Kiev and the West have said they will not recognize Putin's decision to annex Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia. This decision of Putin was announced after in these four Ukrainian regions, which are partially occupied by Russian forces, Russia held fake referendums.

Earlier this month, US President Joe Biden warned Putin against using nuclear weapons in Ukraine and said Putin's "reckless" statements will not intimidate America and its allies.
