Suspected murderer in Manhattan

The gunman wanted in broad daylight in the slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is seen smiling in new body camera images released by the New York City Police Department.

The face of the unknown assassin appears for the first time in two new images released by the NYPD as the operation to capture him continues for a second day.

"With these new photos, if they really are the shooters, it's only a matter of time now," said forensics expert Paul Mauro. "Facial recognition and other technologies have come a long way, and my understanding is that the police have made progress on other fronts in this case. It's truer than ever that you can't get away with murder these days. Detectives will get whoever is behind this, and soon," he continued.

New evidence also suggests the suspect who killed Thompson on Wednesday may have left a message behind on bullet casings at the scene.

The killer, who acted very coldly, appears to have carefully studied the victim's movements, but then left traces: the cell phone, a bottle of water, and possible electronic data from the rented bicycle used to leave for the center, the park. 

All this evidence is already in the hands of the police, together with the footage from the security cameras that "followed" the attacker before and during the crime, with Thompson shot from behind. Now the bullet casings where the notes were found are also being added.
