The State Police has taken stock of the month of May, where it has revealed that during the period of 31 days, 635 people were placed in handcuffs for various criminal offenses.

The blue uniforms report that in the month of May, 10.5 million euros of suspected criminal assets were seized, and 6 criminal events were prevented in different cities.

Also, 133 thefts (some of them with violence), 1 double murder committed in the village of Bodrishte and 1 gunshot wound committed in Durrës were revealed;

Maximum commitment, 24/7, of all structures of the State Police, in implementation of the national operational plans "Rule of Law", "Temple" and "Clean Territory", as well as close cooperation with partners and law enforcement agencies within and abroad, resulted in an intense crackdown on criminal activities.

Megaoperations and operations prioritized the crackdown on the cultivation, distribution and trafficking of cannabis and hard drugs, the possession and trafficking of firearms, as well as the capture of nationals wanted nationally and internationally for involvement in criminal groups and organizations.

Also, based on special police and interstructural plans, intensive engagement has begun to guarantee a safe tourist season.

As a result of the work of the Police, during the month of May, 84 police operations were finalized, 11 of them with international partners;

- 635 suspected perpetrators of criminal offenses were put in handcuffs, 67 of them were wanted nationally;

-42,749 cannabis plants and seedlings were destroyed as a result of 18 operations against the cultivation of narcotic plants, within the nationwide operational plan "Clean Territory";

- During the month of May, 181 kg of cannabis sativa, 11.3 kg of cocaine, thousands of doses of these substances, 470 doses of heroin and 5000 cannabis seeds were seized;

- 10.5 million Euros (money and assets) suspected of criminal origin were seized;

-Thanks to operations based on police intelligence, 23 firearms, 4 explosive molds, 2 antigas and a large amount of military ammunition were seized;

-3 criminal groups that sold narcotics and trafficked weapons from Kosovo or to England, were hit by the Police of Tirana and Durrës, during operations "Tempulli 3", "Transportuesi 2" and "Pakot";

- As a result of the timely intervention of the Police services, 6 criminal events with the use of firearms and cold weapons were prevented in Durrës, Fier, Mat and Lezhë.

- 133 thefts (some of them, with violence), 1 double murder committed in the village of Bodrishte and 1 gunshot wound committed in Durrës have been revealed;

- In Rinas, Morin, Tirana, Durrës, Korçë, 10 cases of smuggling with various goods were hit;

- From field checks and based on citizens' denunciations, 143 cases of crimes against the environment were found and dealt with;

- 121 cases of domestic violence were identified and treated legally, which were then addressed to be treated by other competent institutions;

In the framework of preventing and cracking down on the illegal organization of gambling, during the month of May, 19 cases of this illegal activity were identified and dealt with.

The cooperation of police structures with FRONTEX has been intensified. In this context, 4 operations against the illegal transportation of immigrants were finalized and 168 immigrants from third countries were blocked at the border, who tried to enter the Albanian territory illegally, with the final goal of one of the EU countries.

During the month of May, the Traffic Police intensified controls and monitoring on all axes of the country, using smart cars and the logistic base at its disposal, in order to prevent road accidents and facilitate the movement of road users, on the eve of the tourist season.

As a result of preventive work and continuous monitoring:

183 drivers were arrested, of which 130 for driving while intoxicated and 53 for driving without a driving license.

293 driving licenses were suspended, of which 144 for exceeding speed limits, 88 for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages and 61 for other violations of the Highway Code, for which this administrative measure is provided.

Meanwhile, the Border Police has been entirely focused on providing quality, fast and ethical service to citizens entering/exiting, in all border crossings, to guarantee the free and safe movement of citizens, goods and services. as well as to prevent and punish border crimes.

As a result of the work and commitment to fulfilling the priorities, the following have been achieved:

41 cases of illegal border crossing, 9 cases of using false documents to cross the border, 10 attempts to enter/exit at border crossing points, smuggled goods and 4 cases of motor vehicle trafficking.

Within the framework of maritime security measures, the Maritime Police Unit and the Border Police have started checks for documentation of vessels, for compliance with navigation rules and the security perimeter for vacationers. As a result of the controls, 5 Jet Sky recreational vessels were blocked and their owners were severely punished by the administration, from 10,000 Lek.

The State Police is maximally engaged to guarantee order and security, for the intensive follow-up of national mega-operations aimed at the rule of law in the territory, of operations with partners and law enforcement agencies inside and outside the country, to fight organized crime, as well as to cooperated with citizens to create a safe environment.

At the same time, the State Police is determined to deepen the process of self-cleansing, removing from its ranks those employees who abuse their duty and violate the rights and freedoms of citizens or abuse their duty by becoming party to the crime, and in this context invites citizens and the media to report to the free number 112, any such case and any case of illegality, guaranteeing a quick, professional and legal response.
