" I didn't know that the girl was pregnant ", said the mother of the 15-year-old from Fratari i Mallakastra, who gave birth to the baby three days ago in the village's health center.

The 15-year-old's mother refused to take the baby, abandoning the newborn in the maternity hospital.

In the first statements, the mother of the 15-year-old said that she will not keep the baby, and even asked to leave home with the girl, leaving the newborn baby in the maternity ward.

She also stated that she was not aware of her daughter's pregnancy. The medical staff has asked to wait to send the baby to a special center for newborn babies in Tirana, where it will stay for 40 days and then if the mother does not take it, it will be sent to an orphanage.

The 15-year-old gave birth at the village health center assisted by a nurse and a doctor. But, after showing health problems, she was sent to Fier's maternity hospital together with the newborn baby.

It is known that the mother and the baby, who was born weighing 2.3 kg, are now in good health. Interrogated by the police, the minor stated that she had voluntary sexual intercourse with a 31-year-old man and that she had become pregnant. The latter is wanted by the blue uniforms.

She showed the police officers photos of the boy she had sex with, as well as his identity, but did not give detailed explanations, asking for time to calm down.

The minor lives with her mother, her 19-year-old brother and her grandfather in Fratar of Mallakastra, while her father is an immigrant in Greece.

The 15-year-old's mother is absent most of the time as she works as a caregiver for an elderly person.
