He started a fire and endangered residents, 41-year-old arrested in Rrogozhina

The perpetrator of the arson attack in the Shimve neighborhood of Rrogozhina, where hundreds of olive trees, fruit trees and 10 hectares of vegetation were burned, and surrounding homes were endangered, has been arrested by the police.

Citizen Iljaz Rusta, 41 years old, resident of Rrogozhina, has been arrested and is accused of the criminal offense of "Destruction of the forest environment by fire".

The investigation revealed that this citizen had been working in the yard of a house and had started a fire there to burn waste.

As a result of the strong wind, the fire spread quickly, burning an area of land with vegetation of about 10 hectares, hundreds of olive trees and fruit trees, and putting the surrounding homes at serious risk of being engulfed by the flames.

Police notification

Rrogozhinë - A fire broke out and as a result, hundreds of olive trees, fruit trees and 10 hectares of vegetation were burned, as well as surrounding homes being endangered. The police identified, captured and arrested the suspected perpetrator.

Police services, upon receiving notification that a fire had broken out in the Shimve neighborhood, Rrogozhina municipality, and had spread over a large area, immediately went to the area where the fire had broken out and continued work to identify and capture the perpetrator.

Meanwhile, the fire services, with the help of the Police services, managed to extinguish the fire after several hours.

As a result of quick actions, after a few minutes, it was possible to identify, capture and arrest for the criminal offense of "Destruction of the forest environment by fire", the suspected perpetrator, citizen IR, 41 years old, resident of Rrogozhina.

The investigation revealed that this citizen had been working in the yard of a house and had started a fire there to burn waste. As a result of the strong wind, the fire spread quickly, burning an area of land with vegetation of about 10 ha, hundreds of olive trees and fruit trees, and seriously endangering the surrounding houses.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.

The State Police appeals to citizens not to cause fires under any circumstances, as they will face the law.
