A 27-year-old man has been arrested by the Fier police after raping his Italian cohabitant in his apartment in Cakran, where he had been holding her against her will for several days.

It is learned that the citizen with the initials AI was arrested, who had a criminal record for domestic violence and theft.

The 27-year-old was arrested while attempting to flee in a rented vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Italian citizen was handed over to the authorities of the Italian Consulate in Albania and is in good health.

Police announcement:

The operation is the result of very close cooperation between the Fier Police, the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the Criminal Police Department and the Office of the Security Expert at the Italian Embassy in Tirana.

As a result of immediate police intervention, the 27-year-old man who raped his Italian cohabitant in his apartment in Cakran, where he had been holding her for several days against her will, was arrested.

The perpetrator, with a criminal record for domestic violence and theft, was caught attempting to flee in a rented vehicle.

Following the notification of the Security Expert Office at the Italian Embassy in Tirana to the Criminal Police Department that an Italian citizen was being held against her will, in an apartment in the village of Cakran, by her cohabitant, who was raping her, the services of the Special Force "Eagle" of the Fier Local Police Directorate, supported by the services of the Special Force Operations Directorate and coordinated by the representative structures of Italy for security in Albania, have organized the work and immediately headed towards the signaled area.

As a result of quick and professional police actions, carried out within the framework of the "Fast Reaction" operation, the suspected perpetrator of the case, citizen AI, 27 years old, was caught attempting to leave the apartment in a rented vehicle.

The Italian citizen was handed over to the authorities of the Italian Consulate in Albania and is in good health.
