Journalist Tom Kington of "The Times" has discovered more about the agreement between Albania and Italy on illegal immigrants.
The journalist traveled to Shengjin, one of the cities where the camp for housing immigrants is being built.
After the visit to Shengjin, the journalist also discovered the layout of the immigrant center in Shengjin, which includes four accommodation buildings, all surrounded by a security perimeter.
Also in this building there will be interview rooms and an area dedicated to the European immigration agency Frontex.
Sandër Marashi, director of the port of Shengjin where the Italians plan to build a processing center, told "The Times" that the area where the camp will be built does not affect the work of the port at all.
"This is where the Italians will build their immigrant processing center. It will be in a space of over 3000 m2, but it will not affect the activity of the port and it is a pleasure to help as this is what European partners do, they help each other", he said.
We remind you that Albania and Italy have reached an agreement for illegal immigrants who are caught in the Mediterranean Sea. Albania will receive 3 thousand immigrants per month, which is estimated at around 36 immigrants per year.
This agreement was approved by the Council of Ministers in Italy, while in Albania it is in the Constitutional Court after Gazment Bardhi filed a lawsuit.
He demanded the suspension of approval in the Assembly, as a first step, and then the repeal as unconstitutional of the Rama-Meloni agreement for the reception in Albania of foreign immigrants caught in the Mediterranean Sea./The Times
