Lionel Messi , one of the greatest footballers in history, will be honored in India with a majestic 21-meter statue, which he will unveil himself during a special three-day tour.

The Argentine star, 38, will arrive in Kolkata on Saturday, according to the BBC, to kick off the much-anticipated "GOAT Tour."

The colossal statue, built in 27 days by a team of 45 people, is a tribute to the dizzying career of the 8-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Fans will also have the opportunity to visit the "Hola Messi" area, where there is a life-size replica of Messi sitting on a throne.

Messi, considered by many to be the greatest footballer of all time, shone for 17 years with Barcelona, where he won 10 LaLiga titles, 7 Copa del Rey and 4 Champions League.

He also led Argentina to historic victory in the 2022 World Cup and twice to triumph in the Copa America.

The Argentina captain has continued to add trophies even after his European adventure, winning two Ligue 1 titles with PSG and, most recently, three trophies with Inter Miami, including the MLS Cup, Supporters' Shield and Leagues Cup.

After the ceremony in Kolkata, Messi will travel to Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi, accompanied by his teammates - Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul.

This is not the first time that "The Flea" has been honored with a monument: in 2016 he was immortalized with a statue in Argentina, while Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club is working on a statue of him at Camp Nou as well.

Indian fans are gearing up for an unforgettable celebration as the living football legend lands for the first time for such a historic tour in their country.
