The Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, stated that the government has decided that free textbooks for primary school students will not be restored at the end of the year. Kushi said their age makes maintenance difficult.
"The goal is to ease the financial burden of families and we have specified that they are textbooks for free use. After students use them for 1 year, they must hand them in for the next year. These will last for 3 years. If they are not used, they can be replaced even after the first or second year. For students from grades 1 to 3, students are given free textbooks every year. We decided this way because for primary school students they are too small to save, but also because there are texts and notes that are difficult to erase. The reason why we have decided for the other classes to be in free use and to be inherited from one generation to another is to learn to maintain and use it from one generation to another", said Kushi.
Khushi also presented the second decision that includes an additional budget to reward elite athletes along with their coaches.
"The second decision is related to sports. We have requested additional budget for rewarding elite athletes. This year, our elite athletes have had excellent results. They have made us proud in European and world championships. These results have exceeded our expectations. They are specified the names together with their coaches.", she concluded her speech.
The statement was made today in front of the Prime Minister's office in the weekly communication of cabinet ministers who present the decisions made to the public
