The Court of Appeal has today confirmed the life imprisonment for Përparim Ademi, the murderer of two sisters in Tirana on New Year's Eve 2020.

Ademi killed his ex-girlfriend and her sister, Zhaneta Metani and Kristina Bardhi, on December 31, 2020.

He has requested several times to gain his freedom with the argument that he suffers from mental problems, but this request was rejected. From the legal expertise, it turns out to be without any problems.

The serious event happened on the morning of December 31 last year, in the area of ​​Astir, in the apartment of the Metani and Bardhi sisters. 

Adam had a relationship with both of them, but then on Christmas night the sisters made it clear that they no longer wanted to have a relationship with him.

This fact was not accepted by the 59-year-old, who began to suspect that Zhaneta was cheating on him. He returned after a few days to their apartment and killed them with a Kalashnikov.

Referring to previous reports in the media, the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction informs the following:

In the Court of the Judicial District of Tirana, the trial was held regarding the criminal case that belongs to the defendant with the initials PA, accused of committing the criminal offenses of "Murder due to family relations" and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, weapons explosives and ammunition", provided by articles 79/c and 278/1 of the Criminal Code.

The alleged fact is related to the event of 31.12.2020, where the Tirana Local Police Directorate received a notification that citizens were shot with firearms on "Azem Meshi" Street, "Astir" New Ring, "Ina 2004" Palace with initials Zh.M and KB (M) (sister between them), as a result they died. In relation to the above event, the defendant with the initials PA was charged before the Court of the Judicial District of Tirana with decision no. 2028, dated 20.09.2022 decided:

Deklaimin fajtor te te pandehurit A per kryerjen e vepres penale te “Vrasja per shkak te marredhenieve familjare”, ne dem te viktimave Zh.M dhe K.B dhe ne baze te ketij neni 79/c i Kodit Penal denimin e tij me burgim te perjetsheëm.
Deklarimin fajtor te te pandehurit A per kryerjen e vepres penale te “Mbajtja pa leje dhe prodhimi I armeve, armeve shperthyese dhe I municionit” , parashikuar nga neni 278/1 I Kodit Penal dhe ne baze te ketij neni denimin e tij me 5 vjet burgim.
Ne aplikim te nenit 55 te K.Penal ne caktimin e nje denimi te vetem per disa vepra penale denimin e te pandehurit A me nje denim te vetem me burgim te perjetshem.
Çështja në apel u shqyrtua mbi bazën e ankimit të bërë nga i pandehuri me iniciale P.A, i cili këkoi:

Overturning the decision of the court of first instance and returning the case for retrial.
Alternatively, the partial opening of the judicial examination and the appointment of a group of experts (at the Court of Appeal) to determine the mental state of the defendant and the appointment of the medical measure of admission to a psychiatric hospital.
At the end of the trial, on 11.04.2023, the Court of Appeal of the General Jurisdiction, composed of the panel of Judges Ms. Valdete Hoxha and member Mrs. Vojsava Osmanj and Mrs. Lutfije Celami decided:

- Enforcing decision no. 2028, dated 20.09.2022, of the Court of the Judicial District of Tirana.
