The Assembly has published the final list of candidates from the ranks of lawyers and civil society, to fill 3 vacant positions in the High Judicial Council and 3 vacant positions in the High Prosecution Council.
The final list was published on Monday, May 20, and 6 candidates were disqualified from the race, changing the scoring list made by the ad-hoc commission set up by the People's Advocate.
General Secretary of the Assembly Genci Gjonçaj, based on the right recognized by the Constitution, has disqualified from the race the candidates Pëparim Kalo, Alban Alimema, Fatos Lazimi, Entela Shehaj (Memishaj), Saimir Vishaj and Alban Tushe.
According to the reasoning of the Assembly, they mainly do not meet the legal criteria, mainly because they do not justify the continuous work as a lawyer in the last 10 years or for "tax obligations".
Among the names that have been disqualified is Entela Shehaj (Memishaj), nominated by the lawyer of the Berisha family, Erinda Ballanca. Memishajn was disqualified for not meeting the seniority criterion in the legal profession for 15 years.
