The Constitutional Court has rejected the appeal of former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj.

Beqaj had requested release from the measure of "prison arrest", filing an appeal with the Constitutional Court and considering it incompatible with the Constitution.

Beqaj also requested a retrial in the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime for his case.

Beqaj is being investigated for the SASPAC file, where he is suspected of abusing EU funds when he was at the head of this agency.

This file is still in the preliminary phase.

Meanwhile, regarding the sterilization case, the former minister is being prosecuted at large. There are 8 people under indictment in this case.
