With 41 councilors present in the hall, the Fier Municipal Council voted for the new head of the Council, while earlier, with a motion of dismissal, the socialist group asked Antoneta Cunaj to resign.

In this way,  Antoneta Cunaj avoided a vote for her dismissal, paving the way for the process of electing a new head of the council.

Melsi Bogdani was proposed by the largest political group in the Fier Municipal Council as Ms. Cunaj's successor.

She did not accept a secret ballot, requesting an irrevocable resignation, while in her speech she praised the three-year work of the council under her leadership, emphasizing that all decisions taken under her leadership were approved by the District Prefect and none of these decisions were subject to any irregularities or opened any legal conflict.

She also emphasized that she will continue to contribute as an advisor in order to make fair decisions for the community.

After the mandates committee met to verify the request of the socialist group's councilors, the voting process for the new head of the Municipal Council continued, where Melsi Bogdani was voted in by a majority of ballots, with only one vote against.

In his speech, the new president Melsi Bogdani, after praising the work of former president Çunaj, affirmed that the council will move to another level.

Meanwhile, the entire process was monitored by MPs Ramion Kurti and Erio Mile.
