Among the debris, under the Drin bridge, lives the former political convict, Ndue Murçaj from the village of Gryk-Lumi i Lezha. Abandoned by his family and society, the 66-year-old suffers from several illnesses. Ndue Murcaj has not received compensation for his years in prison, even though he holds the status of "political prisoner", issued by the Institute of Former Political Victims.
In the official document of the Ministry of Justice, it is stated that Murçaj was arrested in 1977 and sentenced in 1978 by the Court of Shkodra to 25 years of imprisonment for three charges of "attempted terror", "hosting of saboteurs" and "attempted murder". He served 14 years in prison and was released in 1991.
" I'm a beggar, fukara. I spent 14 years in prison. I have been living under the bridge for 3 and a half months. They even forgave me a blanket. Even for food, I go out and beg for what they give me. I'm sick, mentally I'm not very well either.
Video taken from Report TV:
I am asking for help from the state to give me the prison money that belongs to me and to give me the pension, because I have reached the age of 6 months ", says the 66-year-old.
