Lulzim Caka is the man arrested by Greek police as the leader of an Albanian criminal group after trafficking 84 kg of cocaine from Colombia through plastic rose stems.

Lulzim Caka is otherwise known as "the terrible one of Berat", who was one of the leaders of the criminal gangs that operated during the years 1995-2000 in the area of ​​Berat, Fier and Lushnja.

He was arrested in Greece with his son at a villa, where 2 kg of cocaine, chemicals, drug packaging equipment, a pistol and a luxury car were discovered.

Lulzim Caka is a wanted person in Albania, after being illegally released from prison in 2019, where he was serving a 25-year prison sentence for several murders.

Caka, who is also known in Greece by his middle name John Franco, has been living in Greece since leaving Albania. In 2022, Greece rejected Albania's request for the extradition of Lulzim Caka to Albania.

Criminal record

Lulzim Caka was found guilty by the Vlora Court of Appeal for the attempted murder of Gani Malushi and Ilir Ngresi. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison in December 2012.

Lulzim Caka is also known as one of the leaders of criminal gangs that operated in Albania, mainly in the areas of Berat, Fier and Lushnja.

Between 1995 and 2000, he was charged with murder due to special qualities. The incident for which he was convicted occurred in March 1998, when Caka resisted police forces.

Caka, who had just been released from prison for document manipulation, had returned to criminal activity. After receiving information about his location in the village of Pobrat, the entire Berat Police Directorate was involved.

Police forces, led by Gani Malushi and Ilir Ngresi (who later lost their lives in an assassination attempt), surround Caka along with two of his associates.

But, armed with Kalashnikovs, they resisted the police for about half an hour. Caka was captured wounded, while his accomplice, Xhevahir Çela, was killed.

After this incident, he accused the state of ordering his elimination, while investigations revealed that the "strongman" of Berat had also shot his friend.
