30-year-old Sokol Tabaku appeared today before the Court of First Instance Berat, to familiarize himself with the security measure.

He is charged with the criminal offense of "Deliberate serious injury", provided by Article 88 of the Criminal Code. Two days ago, Tabaku massacred 40-year-old Arjan Marini in the head and body with hard objects, after a conflict.

The injured is in a coma in the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, while the doctors of the Berat Regional Hospital confirmed after sending the injured to the Trauma that he suffered damage to the skull and brain.

The prosecutor of the case, Ledion Tema, after presenting the necessary evidence implicating Tabak, asked the court to evaluate his arrest as "legal" and asked for the security measure of "prison arrest".

Judge Enetela Gjoni, after hearing the claims of the defense lawyer, has decided to evaluate the arrest of 30-year-old Sokol Tabaku as "legal" and has assigned him the security measure of "prison arrest", with a term of 60 days.

Tabak's lawyer, Shuaip Syri, has stated that his client is innocent and that he is not the author of this serious event.

"The sister of the injured Ermini Marini says that her brother was found massacred and covered in blood under the Gorica Bridge and his condition is serious, he is in a coma. "Erminia demands justice for her brother and prison for the criminal who put her in this state," he said.

EVENTS

The serious event happened in the early hours of Saturday morning in the museum district of Gorica in Berat. 40-year-old Arjan Marini met with 30-year-old Sokol Tabaku to clarify, since the latter had been harassing Marini's daughter for some time.

Asking him to leave the girl alone, he was massacred with punches, kicks and hard objects by Tabaku, who left her lying on the ground covered in blood and left the scene. There were some residents of the neighborhood who spotted the 40-year-old unconscious and covered in blood on the ground and notified the police.

The injured man was first transported to the Berat Regional Hospital, but due to multiple blows and injuries to his head, he was transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where he is in a coma.

Berat police is known to have arrested 30-year-old Sokol Tabaku in his apartment for injuring Marin. The arrested Sokol Tabaku has been known for years in Berat as a regular user of narcotics, a problematic person and arrested and convicted several times for various criminal offences.

Likewise, the injured Arjan Marini is known as a person with a previous criminal record. On April 15, 2021, he together with his brothers Gerald and Marjus Marini, after a conflict, injured the police officer Juljan Xhelilaj with a working weapon.

The police officer intervened to calm the situation but the 3 brothers tried to take his gun and during the confrontation, the gun was fired in his belt and injured the policeman.

The injured Arjan Marini is in a coma in the Trauma Hospital, he went to ask Tabaku to leave the girl alone but was massacred by him. So his sister demands justice.
