A 73-year-old prisoner passed away today at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center, where he had been hospitalized for several days.

According to the announcement of the General Directorate of Prisons, this is a citizen with the initials AB, born on 01.07.1953, born and residing in Fier, convicted of the criminal offense of "Intentional Murder".

The 73-year-old was transferred to the Lezha Penitentiary on November 27, 2021, with a compulsory treatment measure. Due to the deterioration of his health condition, he was initially sent to the Lezha Regional Hospital and then to the University Hospital for more specialized treatment.

According to preliminary medical information, the cause of death is suspected to have been cardiac arrest.

The case is being followed according to relevant procedures.
