The ship Grace Felix is freed from the seizure, along with it 22,000 litres of oil suspected of being smuggled.
Ten months after the sensational operation "Embargo", by decision of the Court of Durres, the Prosecution office issued on Saturday the order for the execution of the criminal decision that returns the ship together with the seized oil company "Solid Energy Solution DMCC" seeking and removing it from Albanian territorial waters.
After this decision, it risks that the company to which the ship belongs to file a lawsuit against Albania for the damage caused during this period. The durrsake prosecution body could not prove within the last 10 months the allegations raised for oil smuggling and embargo breaks, which does not constitute a criminal offence in our legislation.
On February 19, the police operation "Embargo" was organized, within which the Liberian-flagged ship, which was carrying 22,500 tons of oil, was organized, with documentation missing, according to the police notice. The oil was commissioned by an Albanian company that owns and Romano Port in Durres where it was to be discharged.
But the intervention of customs and police authorities after finding the lack of certificate of origin led to the seizure of oil and ship after it was suspected that the cargo had been taken by oil embargo countries, namely Russia. The oil was suspected of being taken in open seas, in Greek waters, near the port of Calabates, by a Turkish ship.
After the order of the Durrsake prosecution, Grace Felix set sail to Greece.
