Almost unbelievable story. Such is the journey of an Albanian teenager, who in an attempt to enter Britain secretly, was put inside a coffin. The case in question was discovered during a routine check of a van by French border officers near Dunkirk.
The Albanian teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said he had paid £9,000 for his trip to Britain in a van. He told the court that: “I was put in a coffin at a motorway service station in Steenvoorde (northern France). I must have been inside for at least an hour by the time the van pulled up.”
The coffin, which had its lid screwed on, was hidden among wooden boxes in the back of a Mercedes Sprinter van. Meanwhile, the driver, Romanian Lucian-Radu Rizae, claimed he had no idea what was in the vehicle.
