A case of adoption of a 5-year-old girl that could have turned into a fatal situation for her was prevented in time. The minor from the Children's Home in Shkodër was adopted in October last year by a family in Fier after all the analyzes made by the Albanian Adoption Committee.

But the director of the Shkodër Orphanage, Anxhela Radovani, says that it was noticed that the relationship between the adoptive mother and the girl was not successful, and it even turned out that the mother had also exercised violence against the minor.

"He had raped the child in the kindergarten. In reality, the adoptive mother has given up custody…”

The mother was also given psychological support, but the situation did not change, causing the institutions to intervene.

"With many interventions from the child protection unit, it has reached the point that the child is taken into protection. It has once again returned to our institution", said Radovani.

Radovani says that this is the first case in her experience that she has encountered such a situation.

"As far as I communicated with the adoption community, this is an unprecedented case," she said.

To prevent such cases, the Shkodër Orphanage requires the cooperation of all institutions.

"We always rely on the referral system, and when we don't, we have a hard time preventing a situation that could be fatal."

The child has now been taken into custody and despite the fact that the return to the institution was traumatic, the important thing is that he is now in a safe environment./Tv Klan
