A police officer in Shkoza was wounded by gunfire overnight while off duty.

Anxhelo Kumaraku has been transported to hospital and is out of danger. According to sources, the 30-year-old was injured in the leg.

Anxhelo Kumaraku was near his apartment, accompanied by a neighbor, a person under "house arrest" for illegal possession of weapons. It is suspected that the target of the assassination was precisely the officer's neighbor, while the incident is suspected to be related to the disruption of drug deals with other people.

It is still unknown why the officer was in the company of this person, who was under "house arrest" and at the time of the incident had violated the court's decision. Meanwhile, Kumaraku had not notified the police about the violation of the security measure by the neighbor.

The police are working to clarify the incident and identify the perpetrators.

Police announcement:

On 18.05.2026, at around 00:10, in the Shkoza area, under still unclear circumstances, citizen AK, around 30 years old, an off-duty police officer, was injured, suspected of being shot with a firearm.

The 30-year-old was transported to the hospital and is out of danger.

Immediately after receiving the notification, the Police services set up checkpoints and are continuing intensive checks in the area, with the aim of capturing the perpetrator(s).

The investigative group and the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, are at the scene and are working to fully clarify the circumstances, identify the perpetrator(s) and legally document the event.
