Fier Police have today undertaken an action at the headquarters of the company "Bankers Petroleum", which operates in the oil extraction field in Marinëz.

As a result of this operation, the current director of the company, Hongping Xiao, a Chinese citizen, and former director Leonidha Çobo were arrested.

Meanwhile, other details have emerged regarding the arrests at "Bankers Petroleum" in Fier, where it is announced that 14 arrest warrants have been issued for managers, former managers and officials of the company.

Four people have been placed under "house arrest" by the Fier Court, while four other Chinese officials have been declared wanted.

The police operation was conducted in cooperation with the General Directorate of Taxes.

Law enforcement officers, accompanied by a Taxation van, were seen entering the company's premises during noon today.

It is reported that investigative actions continue to be active, while details have not yet been provided on the charges against those arrested.

Sources indicate that this control is suspected of setting up a fraud scheme to the detriment of the state, as well as money laundering.

The company has previously faced accusations from tax and customs authorities for failing to fulfill legal obligations to the state budget.

In the past, Bankers Petroleum has also been accused of the negative impact that its oil extraction activity has had on the environment of the Marinza area, causing significant pollution and concern for the local community.

At the moment there is still no official reaction from the authorities.
