The American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, met today in Tirana also with leaders of justice institutions, an unusual move for a head of diplomacy.
While the meeting has come as a confirmation of the support of the United States for the reform in Justice.
In reaction on X (former Twitter) after the visit to Tirana, Blinken has published a photo with the heads of justice institutions, while writing that: "Reform in justice is essential for Albania and its efforts for EU integration. I met with the leaders of the justice reform in Tirana to congratulate their progress in advancing the rule of law and the fight against corruption."
Meanwhile, during the conference in Tirana, Blinken said that: "The reform in Justice has not been simple, but we have started to see results. I met with prosecutors and judges who are leading major reforms. Important members of the underworld are ending up in court proceedings and it is important that this process continues forward. We will continue to support Albania to take steps forward, a process that is also important for EU membership, which is the place that Albania deserves".
