The Special Court has rejected the request of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's lawyers for the change of security measures.

Both Berisha and his son-in-law Jamarber Malltezi will continue to remain under the "house arrest" measure. The dismissal comes just two days after Berisha and Malltez were formally informed by SPAK allegations of corruption and money laundering related to the privatization of the former sports complex "Partizani".

The lawyer Genc Gjokutaj, at the conclusion of the session, accused the institutions of the new justice of violating the procedures.

"We are in a situation where mr. Berisha is communicated an accusation, both measures and the obligation to present and arrest in the house are invalid, and the courts have the legal obligation to terminate them. The court did not ask the prosecution for the last report on the law. So this is an open agreement, the court itself that has appointed measures is not interested in looking at how the investigation proceeds, because the investigation has not been completed.

We are on standby now, because communication of the charge was made but we have not been familiar with the entirety of the acts. They say they are doing investigations their own way, but there should be a report anyway. They fear that they will be afraid of the evil of the wicked," he said.
