Today, the trial for the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, is held, who is in prison for buying votes .
Meanwhile, while waiting for the session to start, two people have raised a banner in front of GJKKO, which reads " Beleri in the south, Radoiçiçi in the north ".
The session a few days ago was postponed after the departure of Etleva Dede from the judging panel. In her place, Flora Hajredinajn was appointed as a substitute judge who asked for time to familiarize herself with the file.
We recall that Fredi Beler's lawyers requested the total invalidity of the prosecution file. Fredi Beleri and his staff member Pandei Kokaveshi were arrested on May 12 on charges of election corruption.
Fredi Beleri was arrested two days before the May 14 local elections, becoming the only candidate in Albania to be elected to public office while in prison.
The prosecution accuses Beler of " active corruption in the elections ", claiming that he has proven beyond any doubt that he had offered a police associate 50 euros for every vote he could find in his favor as mayor of Himara. His accomplice, Pandeli Kokaveshi, is accused of the same criminal act.
