No bank withdrawals and zero expenses, but Albanian buys a villa for 500

A villa worth around 500 thousand euros has been seized by the Guardia di Finanza in Faenza, Italy, which turned out to be the property of an Albanian citizen investigated for drug trafficking.

As Italian media report , investigations have revealed that the Albanian's wealth was inconsistent with the declared income, raising suspicions about the illegal origin of the funds.

Account investigations: zero spending and no withdrawals

The decision is the result of complex economic and financial controls coordinated by the prosecutor's office and carried out by officers of the city's Guardia di Finanza. In particular, the analysis of the bank accounts of the family of the person under investigation has revealed an abnormal management of financial resources. In the years investigated, it was found that the expenses related to the ordinary life of a family, such as the purchase of food and clothing, were quite minimal, as was the almost total absence of cash withdrawals and payments for the purchase of fuel.

Cash and the connection to drug trafficking

Thanks to the cross-checking of information obtained during the investigations, regarding the illegal activities carried out by the subject, it was possible to establish that the funds accumulated in the bank accounts, based on the income from the work he received, were possible thanks to the large availability of cash related to the illegal trafficking for which he was under investigation.

The discrepancy between income and wealth

From the complex reconstruction of the economic-financial profile of the entire family, it was found that this profile was incompatible with property investments and, in particular, with the recent purchase of a valuable asset.

The execution of the seizure ordered by the local Judicial Authority is a measure that allows assets considered of illegal origin to be seized when they prove to be inconsistent with the declared income capacity.
