The Special Appeal overturns the decision of the GJKKO, there will be no

The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime has overturned the first instance decision, temporarily ending efforts to launch a criminal investigation against former minister Olta Xhaçka.

With a decision announced today, May 14, 2025, the panel headed by Judge Iliriana Olldashi decided to annul decision no. 58 of the Special Court of First Instance, which had ordered the Special Prosecution Office to register criminal proceedings and initiate investigations into several serious charges including “Abuse of office”, “Forgery of documents” and “Money laundering”.

The Appeals Court's decision follows an appeal filed by the Special Prosecution Office, thus reinstating its previous decision not to proceed with a criminal investigation.

The complainant's complaint was dismissed, thus closing the 'way' for further investigations at this stage into the allegations against Xhaçka.
