"One of the biggest dilemmas for young couples is choosing a name for their children. More and more they are choosing to use meaningful names. According to INSTAT, the most used names during 2022 are Amelia or Aria for girls, and Noel or Aron for boys, names that in themselves also have a certain meaning.

During 2022, the name Amelia was given to 499 girls in Albania, led by Tirana, followed by Durrës and Vlora.

As for boys, the first name on the list most used by Albanians is Noel, which means a new life. This name is used more in Tirana, in 60 children, followed by Elbasan, reports TV Klan.

And while Albanians are oriented towards foreign names, the opposite happens with foreign citizens living in Albania. They choose names related to Albania.

"The girl's name is Kejsi because it is very popular in Albania, and the boy is Adrian, because it is related to Albania."

In years past parents chose to combine their names to arrive at a final name. In the 1970s and 1980s, the most commonly used names were Lindita and Arben.
