In Tirana, a young man tried to end his life with an overdose of drugs because he could not pay off a debt accumulated from online betting.
The two suspects, Mario Lika and Blenard Ahmetaj, are accused by the prosecution of fines and of organizing games of chance in violation of the law.
The prosecution says that they threatened the bettor of sports matches after their victim failed to repay the debt of almost 4 million ALL.
They repeatedly went to his apartment, watched him from a distance and threatened him, said the prosecutor in court during the personal security measure.
They did the same threatening thing against his wife, threatening the children until the conflict culminated on March 2 and they attacked the house of the bettor, intending to destroy the door and enter inside.
The young man contacted the administrators of the betting site in a casino where he offered to place bets on matches over the phone.
The prosecutor asserted that the telephone communications not only with the bettor but also with the mother, as well as the fact that one of the suspects has previous criminal precedents in Germany, are aggravating evidence for fining the bet.
Caught between two fires, on the one hand the inability to repay the debt and on the other the pressure, he consumed the medication in the hope that he would save his family.
After multiple doses of medication, on February 25, the 32-year-old ended up in the hospital in critical condition.
But he blamed it on depression and didn't show anything at the hospital. After he got out of there, he was tracked down further and in one case they sent you a video of the apartment where his wife had moved to live because she was afraid of threats until the day when the player was convinced that there was no way out if he didn't notify the police./Tch
