A tragic car accident happened in New York, where a pregnant mother was killed, because her husband was driving the vehicle while drunk.
His wife, Adriana Sylmetaj, who was expecting to give birth to a daughter in April, died as a result of speeding outside the permitted limits.
The tragic accident happened around 4:45 am on Saturday. According to foreign media reports, his wife got out of the car and crashed into a wall, while the car split into three parts, leaving 30-year-old Adem Nikezic injured.
A spokesman for the New York Police Department said the young man is charged with manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. Her husband was taken to Staten Island University North Hospital after the accident, while police officers discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol. According to a registry, the Albanian couple was expecting the birth of a girl on April 12.
The reactions on the Internet about the event were numerous, considering the 30-year-old "a shame for the Albanian community". A man who identified himself as Sylmetaj's uncle said his niece was one of four children and that one of her siblings is a police officer. Authorities said he was speeding southbound and went out of control in front of 2545 Hyland Boulevard near New Dorp Lane, hitting a "barrier wall" at the scene.
