Do these figures explain the smuggling of oil into the country?

INSTAT data shows that retail sales of hydrocarbons increased by 4.7% in the last quarter of 2022, compared to the same period a year ago.

According to INSTAT, fuel consumption has increased throughout all quarters of this year.

In contrast, throughout the year 2022, fuel imports in quantity have resulted in a decrease. According to data from the Ministry of Finance, in the last quarter of 2022, fuel imports have suffered an annual decrease of 8%.

Fuel imports last year recorded an annual decrease of about 9%, but on the other hand, data from the retail trade systematically show that sales volumes in 2022 have systematically increased compared to 2021. INSTAT data show that the volumes of retail sales of hydrocarbons in the first quarter of 2022 experienced an annual increase of 4.2%, in the second quarter by 5.2%, in the third by 3.9% and in the fourth by 4.7%.

Where was the excess amount found that was bought by the Albanians? 

The State Police has, in several cases, echoed the operations for the seizure of contraband oil, but has never investigated on whose account the oil comes to Albania. 

After these figures, anyone can rightly think that the smuggled oil arriving in Albania is very large.
